Introducing Myself

My name is Shahzaib Ahmed Khan, I am currently a student of Masters in Learning and Teaching. I work as an Academic English and Transferable Skills (AETS) Officer at Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT), as well as a Module Leader of I, Citizen. 

I have picked this course for professional and personal development, in order to further myself as not only a teacher/lecturer/facilitator/knowledgeable other, but also to develop my overall skills of teaching and learning. Since I am the eldest son in my family, it is also important that I understand the diversity in my family, namely my three brothers and sister. 

Furthermore, I would like to elaborate on my professional background. Working as the AETS officer at WIUT, I have to be able to address student inquiries coming from various different backgrounds. I also conduct workshops throughout the academic year, where I have to practice with students certain skills. 

As for Module Leading, it working with students directly as part of the curriculum. Considering the significant developments in the educational environment, it is important to have the ability to adapt and further develop the sphere. Only in 2019-2020, the whole world faced the global pandemic and subsequent lock-down, which required an emergency remote teaching response from all educational institutions. Today, we can reflect on this experience and further enhance our understanding of what was happening and how effective it was. 

I hope that through this blog, I will be able to share my experience, coming from the background I mentioned, in how I have developed and implemented some of the Innovative Learning and Teaching methodologies.

Deciding on the Structure (and layout) of my Blog

While preparing and thinking about the content of the course I would develop together with my partner, I realize that, after making the previous post on this blog, that the layout was a little uncomfortable for the viewer. Since I can view my blog from the perspective of a visitor, it is clear that some navigation issues may have arose.  The biggest thing that seemed out of place, was the posts appearing on the blog itself. Below, you may see the before and after.  The screenshot above shows how the post would be separated as a "featured" post, which in the context of my blog seems misplaced, since I do not necessarily want to highlight my latest post, since the blog is more in the format of a reflection.
